A BELIEVER'S DIVINE POSITION
By W. G. Guy
Being born-again by faith in the work of Jesus on the cross gives us the privilege of being in a special and eternal relationship and position with God in heaven that most of us fail to recognize. First, being born-again means that the Spirit of Christ is now in you, and you are now in Him; just as Jesus prayed to the Father:
John 17:20-23 – Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am;
Since you are now in Him, where He is so are you in the spirit. And where is He now? He is seated on His throne at the right hand of God, your Heavenly Father.
Ephesians 1:20 – Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Hebrews 10:12 – But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
Hebrews 12:2 – Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
So where Jesus now is, so are those of us who are born-again. We have a privilege of a divine position in and through Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:5-7 – Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
What is the significance of this to those of us who are in Him? Since Christ is seated next our Heavenly Father, He is able to have close conversations with Him. What do you think they talk about? One thing that Jesus says to His Father has to do with you in conjunction with the His Spirit that is in you.
Romans 8:27 – And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Hebrews 7:25 – Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them (us, who believe).
Consider how great this privilege is, that Jesus, seated next to God, petitions the Father on your behalf. Thus you have these
great promises:
Romans 8:31-34 – What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
Therefore, any issues that you face, and need help with, simply do what is written:
Hebrews 4:15-16 – For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may
obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Therefore, don’t focus on your problems, focus on Him who is on your side, and cares for you.
1 Peter 5:6-7 – Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
This is a blessed position you have in Christ. Recognize it for all that it is!
