BABYLON IS FALLEN

          Many preachers have attempted to identify the Babylon that is mentioned six times in the Book of Revelation.  They have come up with all manner of entities like New York City, the revived Babylon in Iraq; and most commonly the city of Rome, which is referred to as the “whore”. I asked the LORD, “What does the Babylon in the Book of Revelation really refer to”, and He gave me the answer right away.  The answer comes directly out of the Bible; it is revealed in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream that the prophet Daniel interpreted – (read this account in Daniel 2:31-45).

          The image represents all of the empires of man that had an influence on Israel, (and later the church), throughout history right up to the return of Christ, when He sets up His divine kingdom.  Here is the end of that interpretation:  

Daniel 2:44-45 –   And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.  Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king (Nebuchadnezzar) what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

          The Holy Spirit showed me that this Babylon in Revelation represents the system of ruling, leading and governing.  It is the kingdoms of carnal sinful man, who is unknowingly under the influence of  Satan’s directives.  It is man’s control over institutions such as governments, corporations, financial systems, religions, and even the false other church, (as reported in my Book, THE OTHER CHURCH).  Such “other” churches are corrupted by false leadership, false doctrines, false preachers and false prophets, who create false beliefs, practices and rituals.

Ephesians 4:13 – That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
 
          Yes, there are churches that are under the corrupt Babylonian system of government.  This is indicative of the great whore, referred to as “her”, the false Church of Rome. (This includes her daughters, which refer to some spin off Protestant churches that maintain some of Rome’s doctrines and traditions).  And with the corrupt leadership of man, their false doctrines, traditions and rituals.  That is why we find this warning in the Book of Revelation:

Revelation 18:4-5 – And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.  For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities. 

          According to Daniel’s interpretation, the kingdoms and ruler ship of mankind will exist right up unto the return of Christ when  the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands totally crushes the image.  This means the final end of all of the kingdoms of man, and this brings about the full manifestation of the Kingdom of God, with Christ being the just and true King to rule forever after.

          As noted in scripture, Satan has control over man’s kingdoms of this world because such authority was yielded to him in the Garden of Eden when he used his craft and subtlety to delude his way into acquiring the authority over the earth having spiritually seduced Eve, and then Adam submitting to Eve – read Genesis 3.  Since that time, Satan has been the influencer and corruptor of mankind, and all that was placed in his hands; the kingdoms of this world.

Luke 4:5-6 – And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.  And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

          Now go back to the image of the dream in Daniel 2 and note that the common thread from ancient Babylon, the head of the image, all the way through to the toes of the image, is the rule of man in these various government empires.  That rule ends with the return of Jesus Christ, the stone that crushes the entire image of man’s rule and the kingdoms of this world.  Thus we have the Book of Revelation reporting this event.

Revelation 11:15 – And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. 

          This was the event clearly identified by Jesus as He instructed His disciples on how to pray; and which we continue to use today.

Matthew 6:9-10 – After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

          The return of Jesus Christ puts an end to reign of carnal and corrupt man over the earth, and the influence of the devil over man is stopped.  Then we will have, and live in, truth, righteousness, peace and joy.

Romans 14:17 – for the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

          The angel of the LORD declares the conclusion of this matter:

Revelation 18:1-3 – And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.  And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.  For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.

          The conclusion of the matter is that Babylon is the system of governing by carnal man, who is under the influence of Satan, the source of all evil and corruption.    That is why we have so much corruption in this world, in government, in industry, in finance, and even in certain churches. This Babylonian system of man’s rule and government will end. Please remember that such corruption comes from lies, deception, and the thieving practices spawned by our enemy, Satan.

John 10:10 – The thief (Satan) cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. 

​        Make sure you are in a Christ centered, Bible believing church; and do not be dependent on the corruption that is in man’s institutions, or governments, which seek to control you, or hinder your faithfulness to the LORD Jesus Christ.
