DOES GOD GET ANGRY?

Does God get angry? Yes! What does He get angry at? Defiance, wickedness, rebellion, transgression; His people turning away from Him: all of which is SIN. Consider what motivated God to bring the flood that Noah was told to build the ark for. What was society like at that time?
Genesis 6:5-6 – And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
The behavior of mankind and society in general upset the LORD that He had to do something to put a stop to it. God had the same problem with the rebellious nation of Israel after He delivered them out of the hands of the Egyptians. He was ready to destroy them all and begin again with Moses to form a new nation, had it not been for Moses’ intercession on their behalf. God spoke of His anger with Israel multiple times.
Deuteronomy 6:14-15 – Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you; (For the Lord thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the Lord thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.
Deuteronomy 9:8 – Also in Horeb ye provoked the Lord to wrath, so that the Lord was angry with you to have destroyed you.
Deuteronomy 9:14-15 – Furthermore the Lord spake unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people: Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee anation mightier and greater than they.
Thus we can see that God can get angry at His own people. Why? It is because they became wicked in His eyes; defiant and rebellious – SINFUL: God has no tolerance for such behavior lest it be repented of and forgiven.
Consider what God has to say about a large amount of the world’s population, those that are godless, wicked and unrepentant sinners. As it is written:
Psalm 7:11 – God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.
Psalm 9:17 – The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
Psalm 11:6-7 – Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. For the righteous Lord loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.
Psalm 37:20, 38-39 – But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the Lord shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away. 38 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off. But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble.
There are so many more scriptures pertaining to the destruction of the wicked; too many to list here. Scriptures declare that the wicked are reserved for the Day of the LORD; the day of recompense or reward for their wicked lives.
Job 21:30 – That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.
Zephaniah 1:14-18 – The great day of the Lord is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the Lord: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly. That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.
And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the Lord: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung. Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord's wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.
God’s mercy and grace always provides a call to repentance for forgiveness.
Zephaniah 2:2-3 – Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the Lord come upon you, before the day of the Lord's anger come upon you. Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord's anger.
Also consider that those who do wickedly are not allowed in the kingdom of God.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 – Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
The wicked that anger God are those who continue in doing the works of the flesh, the selfish lusts that result in sin and death: these works defy righteousness and the fruit of the Spirit.
Galatians 5:19-21 – Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Ephesians 5:5-6 – For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Scripture tells us that wickedness on society will not improve until Jesus returns, but wickedness will continue to grow to be worse in those who refuse God and His Word.
2 Timothy 3:13 – But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
Do we have conditions today like that which was in the days of Noah; days that make God angry due to the level of wickedness on the earth? Yes we do!
Luke 17:26-30 – And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
Take note that in those days people were going about their daily routine ignoring the storm clouds that were building, They were so preoccupied with their own affairs and rebellious activity that they could not discern the destruction that was coming upon them.
What were things like in the days of Noah that made God so angry?

Today governments now approve and promote sin and wickedness: abortion, (killing of the innocent), homosexuality, same sex marriage, and trans-sex (violating God’s divine forming of male and female). Then there is drug addiction, (called sorcery or pharmacology in the Bible); lawlessness, and now transhumanism, merging humans with computerized controls and artificial intelligence. All this places humanity at the crossroads where God must intervene.
The day of God’s judgment and wrath is coming soon. But first He must deal with the state of the church, which is to be the assembly of His redeemed people, the Body of Christ, which much of it today is not what it is supposed to be.
1 Peter 4:17 – For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
God knows how to deal with and correct those who claim to be His people. This is called chastisement, an act of love that re-directs one’s activity and behavior. As He did with Israel so He will do with the church that is supposed to represent Him as His children.
Hebrews 12:3-7 – And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
Then He will deal with the wicked as Jesus returns to rule and reign on earth in power, might and majesty. So, does God get angry? Yes, God gets angry against those who are wicked and who corrupt His ways, especially those who are falsely portraying themselves as His servants, the false preachers and prophets who do not speak for Him. This makes Jesus, God’s Son angry.
Matthew 7:21-23 – Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
For the righteous, who humble themselves before Him giving honor to His Son and His Word; those He forgives and blesses with true joy and pleasures evermore.
Palms 16:11 – Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
Are you one who makes God angry; or are you one who He blesses because you seek His love, mercy and grace, and walk with Him to enter into His kingdom?
