GOD IS NEVER LATE …..
By W. G. Guy
God is never late because He controls time. His power is so great that time itself is in His hands; this shows that God is omnipotent. This fact is recorded in the Bible.
Joshua 10:12-13 – Then spake Joshua to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. 13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
Think about it! For the sun and the moon to stand still in the sky the earth has to cease its rotation. The earth rotates twenty-four thousand miles in a single day. This means that the earth is rotating at one thousand miles every hour, which is 16.66 miles every minute. Yet God stops the earth’s rotation all of a sudden. Think of the kinetic energy that is involved. Remember Newton’s law of motion; “things in motion tend to stay in motion”, which is kinetic energy; it would take a lot of energy to stop the earth’s rotation.
Consider the physics of such an event when everything on earth comes to a sudden stop in its rotation. The oceans, lakes and rivers would have overflowed the shore lines at such a sudden stop. The earth’s crust would have slid to the east: mountains and manmade structures would have fallen toward the east. But everything stayed intact! What a mighty God we serve!
But the power of God gets even more amazing because on another occasion God not only stops the earth’s rotation, but then turns it backwards, rotating the earth in reverse.
2 Kings 20:8-11 – And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that the Lord will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of the Lord the third day? And Isaiah said, This sign shalt thou have of the Lord, that the Lord will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees? And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go downten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees. And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the Lord: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the (sun) dial of Ahaz..
This event is recorded for us a second time.
Isaiah 38:7-8 – And this shall be a sign unto thee from the Lord, that the Lord will do this thing that he hath spoken; behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down.
To prove that these amazing events are not mythical but really happened, this was proven by the astrophysics researchers of NASA. Decades ago as they were planning to send men to the moon they had to make mathematical timing calculations for the rocket capsule to reach the moon. However, their effort to make the right calculations for the space ship to intercept the orbit of the moon was not working out.
Finally one of the researchers remembered the biblical account of God stopping the rotation of the earth and also turning it backwards which had a major effect on the course and passage of time. So they recalculated their figures with what was recorded in the Bible and their calculations then worked out properly.
Thus we can clearly see that God is in control time. This opens up even more areas of consideration. Since God is omnipotent, what else does He have control of? In the course of your life, have you asked Him to guide, direct, influence or control affairs in your life. He is very eager and willing to do so, especially for those who seek Him, and who submit to Him for His will to be done.
Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Are things in your life not working out the way you want them to: are you faced with deadlines and time limits to accomplish certain things. Remember God controls time and is never late, especially on things that you commit into His hands. Put yourself and your affairs in His hands because He cares for you.
1 Peter 5:6-7 – Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Philippians 4:6-7 – Be careful (anxious or worried) for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Consider the following scriptures that are for those who believe and trust in Him; and take them to heart.
Proverbs 16:9 – In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.
Jeremiah 10:23 – I know, O LORD, that a man’s life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his own steps.
Proverbs 20:24 – A man’s steps are directed by the LORD. How then can anyone understand his own way?
Psalm 37:23 – The steps of a righteous man are ordered of the LORD, and he delighteth in his way.
So if you allow God to control affairs in your life, please know that He is never late and has all things concerning you in His hands. If you don’t seek Him and trust Him with your life, then things are in your hands and the outcome may not be to your liking. Those who don’t know, or trust, God are subject to their own vanity and destruction.
Proverbs 14:12 – There is a way which seemeth right unto man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
For those who trust in the LORD:
Romans 8:28 – And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
God is not late, or lax, concern those who trust in Him and His Word. And He does have time for you!
