GOVERNMENT IN DARKNESS
By W. G. Guy
The term “darkness” refers to evil, sin and corruption. Thus darkness very well describes much of what we have experienced in recent years in the government of America. This darkness has promoted abortions, homosexuality, same sex marriage, transgenderism, plus the infiltration of illegals into the country to subvert our societal norms.
The following passage from the Book of Isaiah was directed at the government of Israel. It also clearly describes the state of the American government under recent administrations, which needs to be repented of and overturned.
Isiah 59:1-15 – Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: but your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
Turning away from God and rejecting His commands of truth and justice means that such a government has turned a deaf ear to God. Nevertheless, God is still able to provide sound guidance and direction to those who seek it: but embracing sin, darkness and moral corruption prevents leadership from seeing and hearing divine guidance.
3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.
The corrupt immoral policies of those in leadership positions become evident by the fruits of their efforts. Such works are destructive to society and the morals and virtues to those who are under their influence.
4 None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.
Even the court and legal system is corrupted and perverted by the evil and wickedness of selfish lusts carnal pursuits of those who reject God’s laws and principles.
5 They hatch cockatrice’ eggs, and weave the spider’s web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.
The results of their efforts bring forth more corruption are like a cancer that is destructive to the entire system of government as well as society.
6 Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.
No benefit is gained from their endeavors; just more continuing corruption.
7 Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.
It seems that everything they conceive up is rooted in evil and promotes more godlessness.
8 The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings:
they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.
Justice is compromised as they cannot make sound judgments. They only continue in strife with those whom they consider to be their opposition in order to foment warlike conditions never making any agreement or settlement.
9 Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness.
Righteousness and just judgments are unknown to them; thus they rule in utter corruption, ignoring the light of truth, and continuously walk in the darkness of their evil ways.
10 We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes: we stumble at noonday as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men.
Lacking true spiritual light to recognize truth, they stumble their way through life as though they had no light in them as they go into destruction.
11 We roar all like bears, and mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us.
Those that these wicked rule over grieve over the conditions imposed on them as they look for truth and honesty in their rulers but find none.
12 For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them;
People with eyes to see and ears to hear can easily recognize the wickedness and corruption that their government imposes and walks in.
13 in transgressing and lying against the Lord, and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.
These corrupt godless persons in government reject the knowledge of God, His Word, and His Ways, and instead, make laws that go contrary to God and His Word in defiance against His truth and righteousness.
14 And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.
Pure evil is the result of turning away from God and rejecting truth and integrity.
15 Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the Lord saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.
These wicked also persecute the righteous (as a prey) in order to prevent them from having any positive impact on society. The Bible tells us about the results of such wickedness and darkness in government.
Proverbs 29:2 – When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
When the righteous are in authority; those who have been redeemed from sin through Jesus Christ, then society has peace and joy. Whereas, it is obvious that corrupt man cannot rule righteously, but can only bring forth corruption and its evil wickedness that oppresses the population.
Proverbs 14:34 – Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
Godly leadership is quite evident for the whole world to see.
Isaiah 5:20 – Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Our recent administrations have totally fulfilled what Isaiah prophesied in this verse. We are to put our trust in the LORD and follow His directions because the ways of carnal man lead to destruction, and the godless liberals (unredeemed) will follow their corrupt ways. Jesus said that many are headed in this way.
Matthew 7:13 – Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
God may use carnal man to point out our need to depend on Him, and not them.
Psalm 118:8-9 – It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes, (rulers or government).
The righteous need to stand up against any ruling from those in authority who make laws or rulings that are contrary to God and His Word.
Acts 4:18-19 – And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.
Just as Peter declared when an unjust ruling was made by those in authority.
Acts 4:29-30 – And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, 30 by stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.
Corrupt politicians try to use the Word of God corruptly in order to impose their rules on the righteous. They like to use
Romans 13 for this purpose claiming that they are God ordained for this purpose.
Romans 13:1-2 – Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
However we are not obligated by God to follow such rules because they have violated God’s purpose for those in authority.
Romans 13:3-4 – For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: for he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
Rulers are ordained of God for doing GOOD, not EVIL. Those that use their positions to promote evil are not to be obeyed; and they will have to answer to God as to why they used their authority to promote evil. So wake up godless politicians, and all those who use their government positions to do wickedly! You will have to give an account to God! Here is what God requires of those who are good and proper leaders:
Micah 6:8 – He hath shown thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God.
This is why the apostle Paul instructs to pray for those in positions of authority.
1 Timothy 2:1-3 – I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
