HUMANITY IS SELF-DESTRUCTING
By W. G. Guy
Mankind is on a course of self-destruction. Consider the consequences of our advancing technology and what our science and research will lead to. We have nuclear weapons; biological weapons; dangerous pharmaceutical concoctions; political entities that want to destroy one another; and now we have to deal with AI or artificial intelligence, that eventually we will not be able to control.
Yes, we are on a path of self-destruction, and it will not end well. That is, unless the LORD sovereignly intervenes: which He will!
Matthew 24:21-22 – for then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
When mankind seeks to advance himself through means other than through the provision and guidance of our loving Heavenly Father and Jesus our Lord, he has opened himself up to things that he has no knowledge of, nor control over.
The following article is an excerpt copied from POLITCO by author Michael Hirsh:
THE AI DOOMSDAY MACHINE IS A CLOSER REALITY THAN YOU THINK
Last year Schneider, director of the Hoover Wargaming and Crisis Simulation Initiative at Stanford University, began experimenting with war games that gave the latest generation of artificial intelligence the role of strategic decision-makers. In the games, five off-the-shelf large language models or LLMs — OpenAI’s GPT-3.5, GPT-4, and GPT-4-Base; Anthropic’s Claude 2; and Meta’s Llama-2 Chat — were confronted with fictional crisis situations that resembled Russia’s invasion of Ukraine or China’s threat to Taiwan.
The results? Almost all of the AI models showed a preference to escalate aggressively, use firepower indiscriminately and turn crises into shooting wars — even to the point of launching nuclear weapons. “The AI is always playing Curtis LeMay,” says Schneider, referring to the notoriously nuke-happy Air Force general of the Cold War. “It’s almost like the AI understands escalation, but not de-escalation. We don’t really know why that is.”
If some of this reminds you of the nightmare scenarios featured in blockbuster sci-fi movies like “The Terminator,” “WarGames” or “Dr. Strangelove,” well, that’s because the latest AI has the potential to behave just that way someday, some experts fear. In all three movies, high-powered computers take over decisions about launching nuclear weapons from the humans who designed them. The villain in the two most recent “Mission: Impossible” films is also a malevolent AI, called the Entity, that tries to seize control of the world’s nuclear arsenals. The outcome in these movies is often apocalyptic. (End excerpt)
Ever since the corruption that occurred in the garden nearly seven thousand years ago, there has been the element of the dark sciences, witchcraft and the occult, that have intrigued mankind to delve into such evil and destruction. All such endeavors are destructive even though on the surface they do not appear so.
What many fail to recognize is that what eschatology preachers call the Great Tribulation is actually man made; just like all wars are man-made as well as their weapons of mass destruction.
So between man’s sin and corruption, and the devil’s means of deceiving and subverting, mankind doesn’t have a chance of survival. But, with God, all things are possible, and because of His love for mankind He will continue to intervene: just as He already has by sending Jesus to be the sin atonement for us who accept Him as Savior and LORD.
John 3:16-17 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Instead of focusing on AI and the Internet, look to the Word of God to see how great His love is to provide life eternal and everything else that we need to survive; even for all eternity.
Romans 8:31-39 – What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
The key to victory over all of this destructiveness is putting your trust in God and what He has provided; because “the just
shall live by faith”.
33Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
Even now as we face all the destructiveness of human nature, and wiles of the enemy, our loving Heavenly Father intervenes on behalf of His children as Jesus continually intercedes for us.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Jesus knows what kind of things we face living in this vile world because He live here too for thirty-three years, and endured even more affliction than any of us have had to endure.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Jesus gives us power and ability by the Holy Spirit and the authority of His name to overcome all that the world, the flesh and the devil can throw at us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
There is no greater power in all of the universe than God’s LOVE! By His love He has provided all that we need to overcome and be victorious!
Therefore we really have nothing to fear as long as we put our trust in Him.
John 4:18 – There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
Hebrews 13:6 – So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
Luke 12:32 – Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Matthew 10:28, 31 – And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. …..31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
God values mankind because man was made in His image and likeness. Thus God was willing to invest Himself in man, even to the point of sacrificing is own Son for our redemption and restoration back into fellowship with Him.
The ultimate destruction is already determined to be on Satan, the devil, his angels and demons, as well as those people who have followed in his corruption and wickedness.
Revelation 20:10, 13-15 – And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. ….13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
The victory over destruction is ours through Jesus Christ; and this victory is eternal!
