ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION - AN OPPORTUNITY
By W. G. Guy
Illegal immigration into America has become a major problem. However, too many people fail to recognize the opportunity that this condition presents that may also be a solution.
Why are most of these illegals coming to America? Their response is, “To seek a better life”. This presents our opportunity: to help them find real life that only comes through knowing Jesus Christ as their personal savior. With an estimated 20 million illegals entering into America over the past three and a half years, there is a huge volume of souls to be harvested.
Thus we, as Christians, have a great opportunity because God loves these illegals just as much as He loves us; and they need Jesus too.
Matthew 9:36-38 – But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
The question is who will go to be missionaries to them? Who will go to evangelize them?
When many of these who have come here illegally find real life in Jesus Christ, many will want to return to their homeland to share their new found life with their family and neighbors, and to bring that new life to evangelize them. Thus some of the immigration problem will be solved; the harvest will be enjoined, which is pleasing to our LORD Jesus.
We won’t have to send missionaries overseas to foreign lands because they are coming here to America in droves. So who will go and be missionaries to this vast number of people. It is understood that many come for nefarious reasons, but they need Jesus too; hopefully changing their lives. The body of Christ, the true church, can meet this need because we have the answer for America. The question is, will we rise to the occasion?
John 14:6 – Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
We, the true church, are called upon by our LORD to send forth those who can minister to this great field of souls to harvest, for it is truly a large effort that is being ignored. Illegal immigration is being seen as a major problem; but in reality, there is an opportunity with a solution: His name is Jesus.
John 4:35 – Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
