NOTHING IS DONE IN SECRET
By W. G. Guy
People do things in secret, behind closed doors, in places that they think no one sees or knows what they are doing. They fail to realize that nothing is hidden from God. He sees and knows all that we do, all that we say, and even all that we think or imagine. Not only does God see and know all, He also has it recorded to play back before all at the judgment, where everyone must give an account of how they lived. The only ones that escape such an exposure and accounting is those who have repented of their actions, and accepted Jesus Christ who removes all such offenses from their record.
You must be aware that absolutely nothing is hid from God.
Luke 8:17 – For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad, (or publicly revealed for all to see).
Luke 12:2 – For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.
YOUR SECRETS ARE NOT REALLY SECRET
God knows all that is done in secret, both good and bad; and both will be rewarded.
Daniel 2:22 & 28 – he revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, …, 28 but there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets,
There are Christians, even pastors, who engage in activities that they don’t want others to know about. So they try to hide their lustful, sinful and filthy practices. These include pornography, smoking, drugs or alcohol addiction, sexual immorality, adultery or affairs, gambling, and other carnal practices that they are ashamed to be seen doing: so they try to hide them from others, doing such things in secret. But God sees it all, hears it all, and knows it all; even their perverted imaginations.
However, there are some things that we are told to do in secret; and when we do in obedience to God, He rewards us.
Matthew 6:6 & 17-18 – But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. … 17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; that thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
There is coming a day of judgment when all that is not repented of, confessed and forgiven, will be made known.
Hebrews 9:27 – And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Romans 2:16 – in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
1 Corinthians 14:25 – and thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest;
EVEN YOUR THOUGHTS AND IMAGINATIONS ARE KNOWN
Psalm 94:11 – The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
Psalm 139:23-24 – Search me, O God, and know my heart:
try me, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me,
Isaiah 66:18 – For I know their works and their thoughts:
1 Corinthians 3:20 – And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise (of this world), that they are vain.
Genesis 6:5 – And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
IT IS ALL RECORD IN BOOKS
Daniel 7:10 – ……. the judgment was set, and the books were opened.
Daniel 12:1 & 4 – …..and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. …. 4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
Malachi 3:16 – Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name.
Rewards are meted out for the righteous, as well as condemnations for the wicked.
THE BOOK OF LIFE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT WRITTEN RECORD
Revelation 3:5-6 - He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the
book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
(There are many claiming to be Christians, but they don’t hear what the Spirit is speaking.)
Thus it is possible to have your name blotted out of the Book of Life. How could this happen? We are saved by our faith in the grace (provision) that God makes available in Jesus Christ. The apostle Paul warns us that our faith can be cast off (1 Timothy 5:12), ship wrecked (1 Timothy 1:19), or over thrown (2 Timothy 2:18). Thus, without faith you are not saved! The rewards are for the faithful, those who endure unto the end.
Revelation 20:12 & 15 – And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
BOOK OF LIFE:
No ungodliness or defilement is to be found in God’s children who are recorded in the Book of Life.
Revelation 21:27 – And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
There is also a warning to not defile, mock, repudiate or add man’s doctrines to the holy scripture, God’s prophetic Word.
Revealation 22:19 – and if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
Remember, in this corrupt world the true children of God will be hated and opposed; but we are to remain faithful.
Matthew 10:25-26 – It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household? 26 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.
As you live openly for God as one of His children, letting your light shine in the darkness of this world, you will be found faithful and so rewarded. We live in a constant state of surveillance; but it’s not the surveillance of man that we need to be aware of, but that which is of God.
Matthew 25:23 – His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Revelation 22:12 – And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
