THE POWER OF GOD’S WORD
By W. G. Guy
Isaiah 55:11 – so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
The word void, as used here, means “empty”. The Words God gives us are not empty, like the many words that man speaks, (especially politicians and other liars). God’s Words are, or will be, fully of accomplished; and they do exactly what He has given them to do; regardless if people believe it or not.
Hebrews 4:12 – For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
And since His words are eternal truth, they expose all the lies, deception and errors that are conceived by mankind.
John 17:17 – Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Those who hold to the Word of God are set apart (sanctified) from the rest of the world, because they believe, speak and conduct their lives according to His Word – the TRUTH.
Since God’s Words are absolute power, and are manifested through Jesus, His Son, this power is directed toward us who believe.
Hebrews 1:3 – who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
God’s Words are eternal and never lose their power or authority.
Luke 21:33 – Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
Note that there is no expiration date to the Word of God!
This means that to experience God’s words, and having them fulfilled in your life, you must have faith and believe what He said, and in what is recorded in the Bible: it is all for your benefit.
This means we can hold fast to what our LORD has said, and to what He has promised or given. Here are just a few examples:
Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. I all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.
Matthew 6:33 – But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Romans 8:31-32 – What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Philippians 4:6-7 – Be careful (anxious or worried) for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19 – But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
1 Peter 5:6-7 – Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Please understand that God gave His Word for your benefit: but here is the key to having His Word fulfilled in your life – Jesus Christ is the Word of God that is given for us, and to us, who accept Him. Jesus is the means of receiving what God has promise and provided.
John 1:1& 14 – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ….And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
1 John 1:1-4 – That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (for the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) that which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
When you receive Jesus as your savior and LORD, you receive the Spirit of Christ into your heart; which is being “born again”. This means the Living Word of God is within you. Now it is time to start living like it; allowing His word to come forth in you as you BELIEVE in Him because He is the living Word of God. Then we will be like Him.
1 John 3:1-3 – Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
Note the call to purify, means that we are to separate ourselves from the vile things of this world, and seek first the kingdom of God, which is also revealed in, and by, His Word – the HOLY BIBLE. Thus we see that the power of God, through Jesus and His Word, is directed to us for our benefit! This is because God IS LOVE, and His love is given TO US. The greatest POWER in the universe is God’s LOVE; and it is all revealed in His Word.
Your situations and circumstance cannot change the Word or promises of God; But the Word and promises of God can change your situations and circumstances.
