THREE MANIFESTATIONS OF GOD TO MAN
By W. G. Guy
God, the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit work as one for the benefit of mankind; and they all work together in three manifestations of LOVE, LIGHT and LIFE in order to bring all that HE has for us.
LOVE: of the Father given to us by Jesus Christ and revealed by the Holy Spirit.
I John 4:7-8 & 16 – Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. …… 16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
Thus we are given the Ten Commandments of the Old Testament (old covenant), and the great command of the New Testament (new covenant). The first four of the Ten Commandments is about loving God; the next six commandments are about loving others. (See Exodus 20:3-17)
Love gives, forgives and cares; as demonstrated by God and Jesus, and instructed by the Holy Spirit:
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 15:13 – Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Luke 23:33-34 – And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do….
Jesus, being God in the flesh, and the fullness of the godhead bodily, fulfilled God’s love for mankind. Jesus fully demonstrated God’s love to us. God’s love is given to us so that His love can abide in us showing that we are God’s children.
Romans 8:19 – For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
Romans 13:8-10 – Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
To see what God’s love in us does, and does not do, read, 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.
LIGHT: God is Light, and that light is also in His Son so that He can illuminate us with the knowledge of God.
1 John 1:5 – This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
Jesus, being God in the flesh, and the fullness of the godhead bodily, brings God’s light to mankind.
John 8:12 – Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
Revelation 21:23 – And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb (Jesus) is the light thereof.
We believers, who have received Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, have His light shining in us so that it can be seen by this world of darkness.
Matthew 5:14-16 – Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
1 Peter 2:9 – But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
LIFE: comes by the Spirit of God through Jesus Christ.
Genesis 2:7 – And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
(Note: the word breath in the New Testament is the same word for Spirit: God breathed His own Spirit into man, this made the original man a son of God. This life force that was breathed into him was lost due to sin; but God sent Jesus to restore that life back to mankind. We see this same event repeated by Jesus after His resurrection when He appeared to His disciples.)
John 20:21 – Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
This is when they were born again of the Spirit. God’s love, light and life, is revealed to us by the Holy Spirit. You cannot have a relationship with God the Father, and Jesus the Son, without the Holy Spirit: it is the Spirit that brings God’s life into us; being born of the spirit.
John 3:5-8 – Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (life as God has it).
John 10:10 – The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life (life as God has it), and that they might have it more abundantly.
John 14:6 – Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Jesus declared over and over that He is the life that every person needs, and that abundant life God has provided for by His LOVE, His Grace, and His Mercy.
John 11:25-26 – Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
It is the work of the Holy Spirit to bring the truth of God’s Word, and His life to us.
John 16:7-11 – Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they believe not on me; of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
Without the Holy Spirit there is not revelation of the truth, nor a conviction of sin. In addition, the Holy Spirit reveals more of God’s will to us.
John 16:12-15 – I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
It is the Holy Spirit that reveals Jesus and His Word to us; and it is Jesus that reveals the Father to us. All three manifest God’s will to us and for us that we may, indeed, be the children (offspring) of God.
