THE TWO SPHERES OF KNOWLEDGE

When God formed Adam he had knowledge of divine life that God gave him and allowed him to eat of the Tree of Life. Then there was another tree in the garden called the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
Genesis 2:9 – And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Thus there are two spheres of knowledge; the divine and the carnal. One sphere produces life as God has it, and wants us to have; the other sphere, the knowledge of good and evil, leads to death and destruction.
Genesis 2:16-17 – And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Since the Garden mankind has been eating from the wrong tree and has experienced the consequences thereof. We in America have been getting our knowledge from the wrong tree as is evidenced by the fruits of our public schools and universities.
America is now facing very serious problems: politically, morally, socially, financially, and mostly spiritually. The main cause is due to the rejection of Christ and God’s divine knowledge; knowing God’s Word and His divine plan for us. This opens the door for major problems as God is not happy with conditions in this nation and the corruption caused by our carnal sphere of knowledge. The prophet Hosea dealt this lack of divine knowledge.
Hosea 4:6 – My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me:
seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
Much of the problem centers in the church, which is supposed to consist of “my people”. So much of the church has become lukewarm and ineffective because of focusing on the things of this world, (the wrong tree), rather than on the Word and kingdom of God through Jesus Christ.
Destruction has already begun in America as our people have become so corrupted and divided that violence has erupted; and the reason is clearly stated by the prophet Hosea:
Hosea 4:1-2 – Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel (and America, especially the church): for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.
America is currently reaping the consequences of its corrupt and immoral knowledge which leads to behavior called sin; as the prophet goes on to say.
Hosea 4:7-11 – As they were increased (in material things), so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame. They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity. And there shall be, like people, like priest (false preachers): and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom (worshipping what is not of God), and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the Lord. Whoredom and wine and new wine take away (deceive) the heart.
What is the solution to America’s moral pollution? It is to know God and what He provided in and through Jesus Christ. To know the Word of God is to know God. To really know God is to know His Word; and to know His Word requires that you have the Holy Spirit who reveals the Word; just as Jesus said:
John 16:12-14 – I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
Many parts of the church reject the working of the Holy Spirit saying, “it is not for today”. Thus there is a lack of divine knowledge even in these churches.
The problems that America is experiencing, along with the rest of the world, is due to sin. Conflicts of truth, justice and morality will cause much offense. Jesus foretold us that in the days before His return that this, as sin, would increase, or “abound”. And much of this would be due to false prophets, preachers and politicians who are deceiving those that follow them.
Matthew 24:10-12 – And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
This increase in sin also has another negative affect on us. It diminishes the love that we are to have. Love for God, as well as love for one another. Thus we experience the destructive behavior see going on throughout our society: especially in the horrible dynamic between the political left and right; or liberal vs conservative.
This lack of God’s love in the unbelievers will create what Jesus foretold would happen because of this spiritual and moral conflict.
Matthew 24:9 – Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.
This warning is a repeat of what Jesus told His disciples previously.
Matthew 10:21-25 – And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come. The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?
True believers will experience persecution, especially in these last days; but the false prophets and preachers will not tell you this because they know people don’t like to hear such things.
2 Timothy 3:12-13 – Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
Therefore we must know God’s love by knowing His Word, and what He has provided for us. These last days are not going to be peaceful for true believers: they will be evil days in which we must be faithful so we can endure. That faith comes from the Word of God as revealed and made real to us by the Holy Spirit. This will equip us to stand in the evil day before the Lord returns.
Ephesians 6:10-13 – Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
God’s grace gives us exactly what we all need in order to STAND in the evil day. He gives us the divine armor to stand in this warfare. Each piece of this spiritual armor is an application of the Word of God.
Ephesians 6:14-18 – Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 7 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Note that love for other believers causes us to pray and intercede for them as stated in this last verse.
Therefore it is imperative for all true believers in Jesus Christ to know the Word of God and hold fast to it. The Word, and Christ, is the rock upon which we stand.
As previously stated: “to know the Word of God is to know God”, as well as His love for you. The apostle Paul prayed for this very thing.
Ephesians 3:14-19 – For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.
Thus through Christ, and knowing God’s Word, we can walk in divine knowledge, and we can endure and overcome the destructive works of the enemy.
