WONDERING WHAT’S GOING ON

Many people are alarmed at what is going on in the world today: things seem to be going crazy. Why? Those that are wicked and corrupt are getting worse and worse; so what is the cause? Jesus told us these things will happen, and so it is recorded in the Bible. The cause is that the evil powers of darkness in heaven know that they soon are to be shaken.
Matthew 24:29-30 – Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
The warning Jesus gave us is that there will be utter chaos on the earth preceding His return; and so it is beginning.
Luke 21:25-27 – And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
We read in Hebrews that this was also prophesied to happen.
Hebrews 12:25-27 – See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
The apostle Paul told us that this is the spiritual warfare we would be up against, not only throughout the church age, but specifically during the last days. Ephesians 6:12 – For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
(Note: most Bible translations refer to “high places” as heaven, or heavenly places.)
The powers of darkness, and those corrupt people who are aligned with these demonic forces, are going to manifest and be exposed for who, and what they are. Then they shall be removed, just like it was when the wicked that were removed in Noah’s day, while the just, (Noah and his family), were preserved by God’s grace and mercy by their obedience to Him and His Word.
Psalms 9:17 – The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
Psalms 37:20 – But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume:
These spiritual forces in the heavens, (or high places), are now being shaken in anticipation of the coming of the LORD’s return. Thus they are reacting with their massive corruption and violence against mankind; those made in the image and likeness of God: specifically true Christians, and God’s people Israel. This is exactly what Jesus said things would be like in the last days prior to His return.
Matthew 24:37 – But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
So what were things like in the days of Noah just before the flood?
Genesis 6:5 – And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
This evil in men’s hearts and thoughts was inspired by these powers of darkness causing great violence and corruption.
Genesis 6:11 – The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
So as Jesus foretold, corruption and violence would be prevalent in the earth at the time prior to His return. So today we see this escalation in corruption, not only in government, but in nearly every institution of man. In addition we see an increase in violence, not only on our streets, but in conflicts among nations, as well as among ethnic, political and religious groups.
These powers of spiritual darkness, (likely the fallen angels and the demonic evil spirits), hate those who have the light of Christ in them, and those destined by God to be the light in this world: glowing with His glory. The battle has been going on for nearly two thousand years and is coming to a conclusion. As we come to the end, this is the time that our enemy puts up his greatest effort in this battle.
Ephesians 6:10-18 – Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day (of calamity or great opposition), and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Note: each piece of spiritual armor is an application of the Word of God, called the “Sword of the Spirit”. Therefore it is most important for each of you to know and apply the Word of God to the situations and circumstances that the enemy throws at you.
2 Corinthians 10:3-6 – For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; and having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
Please recognize that we fight most of this warfare in our mind: what kinds of thoughts we allow, or think on. This is why renewing the mind with the Word of God is so vital to victorious living. This is being obedient to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 12:1-2 – I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Therefore it is incumbent on us as true believers to move in God’s love for one another in a great sense of Christian community; praying and helping one another in the bond of God’s love; and to support one another in this end-time warfare. Thus we will show the world that we truly are the light of Christ in this world of darkness.
1 John 3:1-3 – Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
Do you still wonder what on earth is going on? It is because we are at WAR! This is spiritual warfare, and it is only going to get more intense as this age comes to a close and the return of Jesus. So be faithful to Him who promised and He will see you through all of what is going on in this world.
