DO NOT BE DECEIVED
By W. G. Guy
As a designated “watchman” of the Lord, as so named by Pastor David Wilkerson in 1985, it is my responsibility to share with you what the Lord has recently revealed to me as follows:
Matthew 24:24 – For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
While in prayer and meditation on the Word of God, the Holy Spirit revealed a word to me that is vital for believers to know. He brought to my attention that Satan is soon going to cause an event, or a series of events, and show hidden things, that will attempt to discredit the Word of God in order to try to over-throw believer’s faith and confidence.
As Jesus stated in the above verse, the devil will show great signs and wonders in effort to deceive, if possible, the very elect. It will be some sort of sign or wonder, or dark revelation that he will use to cause doubt in what God has said. He has done this before:
Genesis 3:1 – Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Notice the devil’s attempt to cause doubt in what God has clearly stated: “hath God said”.
The apostle Paul was concerned for those whom he ministered to, that Satan would rob them of their faith in the gospel of Christ by some form of deceit.
2 Corinthians 11:3 – But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
Even Jesus warned us of the ploys of the Satan:
John 10:10 – The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
In the days that lay ahead we will see the devil’s powers of darkness not only create more havoc, but also try to bring about false events, called signs and lying wonders, in order to deceive and overthrow the faith of believers.
2 Thessalonians 2:3 & 9 – Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; …… even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
Satan may not expose himself personally in revealing these events or revelations, but will use those people, or beings, under his influence to do so.
Ephesians 5:6 – Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Satan’s attempt to discredit the Word of God is so important to him because it is that Word of God that forms our protective armor against Satan’s attacks.
Ephesians 6:13-17 – Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Please recognize that each and every piece of this spiritual armor is based on an application of the Word of God. That is why our enemy will try to destroy our faith in “what God hath said”.
We need to really know the Word and promises of God because they make us able to “stand in the evil day” when the enemy is trying to overthrow all that is of God in our lives. Satan is trying to put out the light that we have in Jesus Christ.
Yes we will see events, and hear of news that the enemy of our faith will initiate to undermine our faith and our lives, but we are called to be over-comers. Standing against the darkness in faith we will also experience the power of the Holy Spirit to sustain us.
Isaiah 59:19b – When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.
That standard is Jesus Christ and the Word of God!
Although some of what the enemy brings about may appear fearful, we are not to give into fear but stand on what God has promised.
Romans 8:31-39 – What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Hebrews 10:23 – Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
Revelation 3:11 – Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
