WHY IS AMERICA IN DECLINE

Too many Americans fail to recognize the deplorable state that this nation is currently in because they seem to be too absorbed in the cares of their own individual lives; or they are focused too much on their i-phones. What is it in America that is in decline; what are we, as a nation, experiencing? What is it that too many Americans are ignoring or living in denial of: loss of prosperity; loss of moral values; loss of family relationships and integrity; high unemployment; tyranny in government; loss of liberties and Constitutional Rights; political divisions and instability; increase in corruption in nearly all established institutions.
Is there a reason or cause for what America is suffering from? YES! There is one root cause of all of this nation’s problems – turning our back on God and embracing sin, even to the point of legalizing sinful acts.
Proverbs 14:34 – Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach (shame or disgrace) to any people.
Proverbs 29:2 – When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
Please recognize that God sees everything that is going on in America; also in your own personal life – whether right or wrong.
Proverbs 15:3 – The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
First, let’s deal with America’s rejection of God. Since 1963, our government has been passing laws contrary to God’s supreme law and commandments. It has also been steadily and increasingly legislating God out of our public institutions and thus out of our private lives. Our government, both at the national and at certain local levels, has treated God with utter contempt; so much so as to basically give God the finger.
Isaiah 5:20 – Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Isaiah 10:1 – Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees (laws), and that write grievousness (deplorable, atrocious, abominable) which they have prescribed (legislated or made law).
Psalm 94:20 – Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief (harm or damage) by a law?
Psalm 119:26 – It is time for thee, Lord, to work (take action), for they have made void thy law.
How do you think God feels about our treatment and rejection of Him? Is He still willing to treat America with favor and bless this nation? Or is He going to pull back from America and cease protecting, prospering and blessing this nation? Please recognize that America is not the nation it was just a few decades ago when God was abundantly protecting, prospering and blessing us. Even our current President publicly stated that America is no longer a Christian nation, (which seems to be to his liking).
Much of America, including many Christians, are living totally contrary to God having adopted all manner of immoral living, including worshipping of idols, (material things and personalities):
Galatians 5:19-21 – Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such the like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
God has sent many of his servants over recent years to warn this nation to repent and return to Him, but they are publicly mocked and ridiculed. With His warnings rejected, what is left for us but to experience the results of our rejection of Him. Consider it like this: He is the light but we have deliberately turned off the switch, thus we are now stumbling around in the darkness.
Second, we need to recognize that much of what America is experiencing is the result of gross and blatant SIN! The nation’s moral decline is very obvious but it is ignored by the populous and our government leaders. However the results of our sin are clearly seen and experienced, but the cause is never recognized, acknowledged, or even addressed. In fact much of our moral decline is promoted by our extremely liberal educational institutions and our provocative entertainment industry.
Proverbs 28:13 – He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and foresaketh them shall have mercy.
America has a choice, both as a nation and as individuals.
Galatians 6:8 – For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
What is sin? Sin is the willful transgression or breaking of moral and divine law. Divine law is given to us by God to establish a moral, equitable, proper and sustainable system of living. Even so-called Christians are living in gross sin: being unfaithful to their spouse; homosexuality; drunkenness; lies dishonesty, etc. as stated by the apostle Paul of how things would be in these last days.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 – This know also, that in the last days perilous time shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents (previous generations), unthankful, unholy, without natural affection (homosexual), trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent (unrestrained sexual behavior), fierce, dispisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
Clearly, Paul was addressing the church because, as stated in verse 5, where else do you find a “form of godliness” – certainly not in the world, but in the church! Thus, much of the church is acting just like the rest of the world’s ungodly people. As a result, our land continues to descend into its immoral mess.
What many account to be the most flagrant of sins are murders, abortions, homosexuality and same sex marriage, all of which have risen dramatically in recent years. This is where the nation’s moral decline is the most obvious. Much of our population, especially those claiming to be Christian, tend to rank sin on a scale of severity with these most flagrant sins at the top of the scale. They, in self-righteousness, do this considering themselves to be above such immoral behavior. However, to God, all breaking of moral and divine law is sin at the same level. There is no ranking or severity of sin in God’s eyes.
Romans 3:23 – For all have sinned, and come short of the glory (character and nature) of God.
Consider that lies are sins just as much as murder, abortion, or homosexuality. So who is the sinner; the one who commits abortion or the one who lies? Both are sinnrs! Telling lies is probably the most prolific of sins in this nation. Unfortunately, those in responsible positions of leadership in America rely on lies in order to obtain and retain their positions and functions; especially those in political/governmental positions. There are those who seem to consider lies as a badge of honor and are very astute at it as in the case of President Obama – credited as the liar of the year in 2013.
As stated, lies are just as sinful as murder, abortion and homosexuality because it causes people to believe what is false. Those lied to have to make decisions based on false or wrong information. Lies are actually a means to defraud those lied to and affects their lives, in some cases a lie causes a loss of wealth, or even a loss of life because of trusting in something that is not true. The American people are constantly being lied to by their government, and thus, we are being defrauded. What’s worse is that we know it; but no one takes it to heart as to how serious this sin is.
Our government is not the only institution that uses lies to manipulate the American people; corporations, advertisers, the news media (both the mainstream news and the alternative news) lie in order to manipulate us – it also called, “disinformation”. And its purpose is to defraud us and to get us to believe something that is not true; with the goal of manipulating public opinion and decision making; (especially in voting and making purchases).
A liar uses such means in order to wrongly obtain what his objective is; and usually that objective is evil, wrong or sinister so as to gain advantage over those who are lied to. This sin is more flagrant and more evil than most people realize. Lies are a commonly used tool of the socialist, communists, Muslims, criminals, those with something to hide, and anyone seeking to gain a dishonest advantage over others.
Truth in America is lacking; truth has been thrown out into the street and is being trampled on as mentioned in the Bible, (Isaiah 59:14). Thus people don’t know what is truth; instead too many believe the lies and are deceived. Too many actually reject truth and thus are given over to “strong delusion” since they seem to prefer the lies. Scripture indicates that lies will be greatly prevalent in the last days as it will be a tool of the antichrist and those who work with or promote him.
2 Thessalonians 2:9-10 – Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all deceivableness (lying) of unrighteousness in them that perish; because theu received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie.
Who can you trust? America has been lied to and lives in lies. Is there a cure for the decline in America? YES! Return to God, repent, seek truth and those honorable people who hold the truth in high regard. In particular, recognize that Jesus is the truth. The Bible, the Word of God, is truth. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth.
Our only solution as a nation and as an individual is accepting Jesus who came to destroy the works (lies) of Satan, the enemy.
1 John 3:8 – He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Sod of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
John 10:10 – The thief (Satan) cometh not but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I (Jesus) am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
America’s moral decline is because it is totally under the influence of the god of this world – Satan, who is a murder, a thief, a destroyer, and the father of liars.
John 8:44 – Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own (character): for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Jesus and His Word, being pure truth, brings light to those who accept him and thus they will no longer walk in darkness, (which represents evil). Evaluating what Americans see and hear in light of God’s Word, the truth, can set America free of the deception of the lies of the evil ones who mean you harm.
John 8:30-32 – As he (Jesus) spake these words, many believed on him. Then he said to those who believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
America is in decline as a consequence of our nation turning its back on God and walking in sin, the evil darkness of Satan that destroys moral and virtuous life. Satan is our real enemy and he is ruining America, and he is rejoicing in our moral and spiritual decline. America can change for the better by returning to God, acknowledging our sin, asking forgiveness and repenting, (changing) our way of living. How is this possible? Begin with what is recorded in the Bible – the TRUTH that reveals God’s pure love for all mankind and His provision for those who will believe and accept him.
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world (mankind), that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
This is only the beginning of a new life and needs to be nurtured and developed by a close personal relationship with God through Christ. This comes by regular prayer and studying of the Bible.
Roman 12:2 – And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
The repented, changed life has great reward and is eternal.
Proverbs 13:13 – Whoso despiseth the Word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.
2 Chronicles 7:14 – If my people (believers), which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
This passage has been referred to frequently in recent decades by many Christians and ministry organizations. But why is it not working if it is truly being applied. The reason it is not working appears to be that Christians are not really applying this truth. Christians are not really humbling themselves and obediently submitting themselves totally to God. Nor are they turning from their wicked ways. There is too much sin in the lives of Christians, just as the apostle Paul foretold in 2 Timothy 3:1-5, as listed previously.
It time for Christians in America to get right with God, get serious about their lifestyle, take heed to the warning in scripture, make their stand for righteousness, godliness, morality, honesty and integrity. Time is short!
Romans 13:11-14 – And that, knowing the time, that it is now high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we (first) believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast of the works of darkness (sin), and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering (immoral cohabitation) and wantonness (unrestrained sexual behavior), not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. (Notice the emphasis on sexual impurity – it’s even in the church).
America can be saved from its decline, but it will not happen automatically; it requires action on the part of those who love God and seek Him and His Kingdom!
