IT IS TIME FOR GOD TO PUT DOWN HIS ENEMIES
This statement came to me as I was praying and meditating on His Word. Then I asked, “Is it really time”? So I researched the scriptures and here is what is written for us:
Matthew 22:44 – The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? (From Psalms 110:1)
Mark 12:36 – For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool. (Repeated)
1 Corinthians 15:24-26 – Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. (Ref. Psalms 110)
Philippians 3:18-19 – (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
Hebrews 1:13-14 – But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? (Ref. Psalms 110)
Hebrews 10:12-13 – but this man (Jesus), after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; from henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. (Again from Psalms 110:1)
Should we be praying for God to put down His (Christ’s) enemies? Both Jesus and Paul spoke of it!
Psalms 37:20 – But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the Lord shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.
Psalms 44:5 & 7 – Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us. But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us. (This is the task of the saints through Him)
Psalms 60:12 – Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies. (Again, the task of the saints through Him)
Psalms 68:1-2 – Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him. As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.
Psalms 74:22-23 – Arise, O God, plead thine own cause: remember how the foolish man reproacheth thee daily. Forget not the voice of thine enemies: the tumult of those that rise up against thee increaseth continually.
Psalms 92:7-9 – When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever: but thou, Lord, art most high for evermore. For, lo, thine enemies, O Lord, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.
Psalms 108:13 – Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies. (Repeat of Psalms 60:12)
Psalms 110:1 – The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand,
until I make thine enemies thy footstool. (Repeated by Jesus and Paul in NT)
The church, for the most part, has been passively silent and mostly in a defensive posture failing to be assertive and aggressive for Christ. We are to be the light that shines in the darkness; but the darkness seems to be putting out the light: this is contrary to the laws of physics and of God. The light is to put out the darkness, because darkness is the absence of light.
Isaiah 60:1-3 – Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.
Matthew 5:14-16 – Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
It is high time for the true believers to rise up in the power of the Holy Spirit, equipped with the Word of God and covered with the blood of Jesus to stand against the darkness and wickedness in this world to defeat the enemy as God has so declared. It is He who has provided and fights for us and with us. The weapons of our warfare are prayer and His Word – target focused prayer that is intense.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 – For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Luke 10:19 – Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the
enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Ephesians 6:10-18 – Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in igh places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Consider that every piece of armor listed in the above verse is defensive except for the sword. Image an army going into battle without a sword and having only defensive armor. They would not accomplish anything other than getting beat by the enemy. This describes the church today; no wonder Christians are not gaining any territory; in fact the church appears to be running away from the fight.
The sword is an offensive weapon, and without it you cannot fight against the enemy. Scripture says that the Sword of the Spirit IS THE WORD OF GOD. This is our offensive weapon to use against the enemy. Who is the enemy - all that is of Satan and his minions that oppose God and His commands, morals and values.
God, through Jesus, gave us all that we need to fight and gain the victory; but most Christians don’t fight; most Christians don’t have a sword, or know how to use it, or even what it is for; they don’t know the Word of God. This explains why America and Europe is in the depraved state they are in with the godless liberals destroying what our forefathers and predecessors obtained through their faith and perseverance in the Lord.
Every piece of God’s armor is an application of the Word of God. These are our weapons, both defensive and offensive. It is time to go on the offense against the enemy. Please recognize, WE ARE AT WAR! It is time to fight in the power of His might! Praying in His name, with His Word, and by His blood!
Revelation 12:11 – And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Why is the above verse given? Look what precedes it – WAR!
Revelation 12:7-10 – And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
1 Peter 5:8-9 – Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
James 4:7 – Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
So we Fight – and ultimately, we WIN!
