UNDERSTANDING THE LIBERAL MINDSET

The liberal, (also known as leftist, and now-a-days as progressive), have a mindset that seems to always make demands for and supports behavior that is contrary to Christian and Biblical laws, values and morals. Most notably they want abortion, homosexuality, same sex marriage, adultery, fornication, limits on traditional marriage, destruction of the family unit, legalizing controlled drugs and substances, riots and violent demonstrations, and general lawlessness, to name a few. They are simply “progressing” forward to godless immorality. Why is this? The simple answer is found in the Bible.
Galatians 5:19-21 – Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
First of all we can recognize that all of these listed behaviors are SINS. This shows that the liberal/leftist/progressive mindset is far removed from God and Christ, and is aligned with the nature of Satan. Thus they are all sinners in need of repentance and salvation from their sinful nature. They are all offspring of the devil – their spiritual father:
John 8:44 – Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
They all are of this world and as such oppose all that is of God/Christ and His kingdom (domain). Their minds and hearts are blinded to truth by the god of this world:
2 Corinthians 4:3-4 – But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
The Bible clearly identifies what is of this world and contrary to God which is basically a defiance of, and hatred toward God, Christ and true Christians, and anything that represents righteousness, (or that which is right and true – that may be why they are called the “left”, which is wrong). They are afflicted with selfishness and pride, the character and nature of Satan:
1John 2:15-16 – Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
(Note the three areas of human vulnerability: of the flesh = “I will”; of the eye = “I want”; and pride of life = “I am”; which sum up selfishness and pride.)
These liberal/leftists justify their desires and behavior using worldly and devilish wisdom and knowledge to justify themselves:
James 3:15 – This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
Another reason why the liberal leftists/progressives oppose Godly principles is that the natural carnal mind does not know or even recognize spiritual truth and righteousness:
1 Corinthians 2:14 – But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
The natural or carnal (unredeemed) mind is opposed to God, truth and righteousness:
Romans 6:16 – Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Romans 8:5-6 – For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Let’s take a closer look at 2 Corinthians 4:4 – “the god of this world has blinded the minds of those that believe not”. To be blind means not being able to see. To be blinded of the mind means not being able to understand or have knowledge of what is of God. Thus such people are left to follow their natural, or carnal (fleshly) unholy, selfish and prideful lusts, thoughts and desires. Such a mind is an open cesspool for the devil to fill with his garbage, (his sinful, lustful, prideful) nature:
John 8:41-44 & 47 – Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God. Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
Knowledge is likened to light or illumination which provides understanding. However, there are two kinds of knowledge – good, and evil. Both kinds come from the Tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil, the same tree that the devil used to tempt Eve in the garden that became the source of all of mankind’s problems, which the devil knew would happen just as he planned it:
Genesis 3:6 – And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat.
(Note that the three areas of human vulnerability are used by the devil to tempt Eve: appeal to the eye – “I want”; appeal to the flesh to eat as food – “I will”; appeal to pride or position in life – “I am”. Also note that the same three are the temptations the devil used on Jesus in the wilderness as recorded in Luke 4:1-13.)
Thus the liberal/leftist/progressive people willfully oppose the Christians whose lives are to be representative of Christ and the kingdom (domain) of God. They will even try to kill believers in Christ because of their hostility to the things of God:
Matthew 24:9 – Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.
Then there are those of the false religions, (which are from Satan – the god of this world), who think that it is their duty to kill Christians. They, like the Muslims, are actually fulfilling the will of the god of this world in an attempt to destroy God’s representatives:
John 16:2 – ….yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
The liberal, sinful mind also rejects truth and facts because it has been deceived to believe the big lie that the devil has instilled in them.
2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 – ….because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: that they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Have you noticed in that any discourse with liberals who are presented with truth and facts, they cannot accept those truths or facts and instead continue to spout off their leftist agenda. Truth and facts mean nothing to them because God has given them over to “strong delusion”.
Conclusion: The liberal/leftist and progressive mindset needs to be repented of and redeemed or born again before they meet their end and have to give account before the Holy and Almighty God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Until such a time that they either repent and accept Christ or the face the wrath and judgment of Almighty God, the liberal/ leftists will be the opponents, socially, morally, spiritually and even physically of all true Christians. Thus it is imperative that Christians understand the evil mindset of these liberals, leftists and progressives – they are the pawns of the enemy – Satan; and they will continually oppose you on the devil’s behalf. And they need our prayers and intercession for salvation before it is too late for them individually.
