JESUS TELLS OF SOWING THE SEED
By W. G. Guy
Jesus gives two illustrations of sowing seed which represents the Word of God and His Kingdom. The first illustration tells how various conditions affect the results of sowing the seed of the Word.
Matthew 13:18-23 – Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side (does not servive). But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended (denies the purpose of the seed). He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful, (does not produce the required end result). But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
The harvest that the Father is looking for is the fullness of Christ in the believers. At the harvest some will have 100% of Christ’s likeness in them; others may attain 60% or even 30% of Christ’s likeness: but all such percentages will be accepted at the harvest. As the illustration explains, some don’t make it to the harvest at all due to adverse conditions that need to be overcome. (Sorry for those who have been deceived to believe, “once saved, always saved”.)
Jesus Christ gave gift ministries to develop and grow His spiritual crop to maturity. But there are many who are not called and gifted by the Lord for leadership in His church, and who are building something of their own making which is not Christ’s true church.
Ephesians 4:11-13 – And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: (the 100%, 60% or 30% of Christ).
The second illustration tells that after the good seed (the Word) is sown, that the enemy (Satan) sneaks in when the leadership of the church is derelict in their watchfulness and sows “tares”, a type of poison, among the good seed.
Matthew 13:24-30 – The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
The tares are false doctrines and traditions of men and demons that corrupt the crop: such are doctrines of the OTHER CHURCH, (reference my latest book).
Ephesians 4:14 – that we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
The Lord’s true servants identify the tares and ask if they should go and pull them out. The master said no, if you did you would also disturb and destroy the roots of the wheat; let them grow together and at the harvest, then pull the tares out first, then secure the wheat into the barn. The tares describe the OTHER CHURCH with its false doctrines, as well as the wicked and unbelieving, and that they will be removed before the true church is harvested unto the Lord.
This is what is meant when Jesus said, “one is taken and the other left”. It is the wicked along with the false “other church” that is taken. Just like in the flood of Noah, it was the wicked that were taken out, and the just were preserved. At the time of the rapture/resurrection many will be surprised as to who goes to be with the Lord and who doesn’t!
Matthew 24:36-41 – But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
It is high time for the church to wake up, get their doctrines right, and remove what is false and walk in what is true!
Romans 13:11-14 – And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, (some 100%, some 60% and some 30%), and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
