THE ABSOLUTE POWER
by W. G. Guy
The greatest power in the entire universe is God’s LOVE!
1 John 4:7-8 – Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
There you have it: GOD IS LOVE! Remember that God is Omnipotent which means He is ALL POWERFUL. And since He IS love, then Love is the greatest power in the whole universe. Think on that!
God’s love is more powerful that all the nuclear weapons that man has made all put together. God’s love is far greater than the power of the sun; in fact, His love is more powerful than all the suns/stars in the universe put together. Nothing in all of creation is more powerful than God’s love. And God has given His love to mankind.
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The eternal life that a believer then has through Jesus Christ makes him a child of God and thus he is to reflect Christ’s character and nature as one of God’s children. Having received the Spirit of Christ (Galatians 4:6) which means to be born again, or born of the Spirit, we are then to live in this world as Jesus showed us how to love, care and have compassion for others.
John 15:12-17 – This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. These things I command you, that ye love one another.
When the saints stand before Christ the Judge, He will reward each according to his obedience to the Lord’s commands. God’s love in and through us allows Him to reveal himself to others through our showing them God’s kind of love.
Romans 8:38-39 – So now I live with the confidence that there is nothing in the universe with the power to separate us from God’s love. I’m convinced that his love will triumph over death, life’s troubles, fallen angels, or dark rulers in the heavens. There is nothing in our present or future circumstances that can weaken his love.
There is no power above us or beneath us—no power that could ever be found in the universe that can distance us from God’s passionate love, which is lavished upon us through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One!
THE GREATEST OF RICHES
The greatest of riches and wealth in the entire universe is LOVE! Gold and silver or other forms of money have no value in heaven or in eternity. Love is the greatest value in the kingdom (realm) of God and in heaven. This is why the great commandment, as announced by Jesus and the apostles is LOVE. Love has eternal and lasting value that cannot be measured but is recognized by God.
Love is so valued and so important that it was identified as the GREAT COMMANDMENT.
Matthew 22:35-40 – Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
We should also recognize that loving God and loving others is the fulfillment of the Law and the messages of the prophets.
Romans 13:8-10 – Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
Most people do not have a total and proper understanding of LOVE because the word love is used so broadly and is applied to so many different things such as: activities, pets or animals, inanimate objects, sports, foods, personalities, as well as personal relationships, etc.
The love that the bible refers to means to CHERISH and CARE for God as well as for others. This why the word “charity” is used in the place of the word love in the Bible’s “love” chapter.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 – Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
With this in view, the meaning of the great commandment as spoken by Jesus and the apostle Paul, when they said, “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself”, should be understood as, you should cherish and care for your neighbor as you cherish and care for yourself. This helps to clarify how we live the true Christ filled and Christ centered life, as well as how we maintain our relationship with God our Heavenly father.
The God kind of love (agapeo) is the treasure we, as God's children and Christ's brethren, are to be seeking. What is so amazing is that this TREASURE is FREE and we really don’t need to put forth effort to find it – it finds us because of His love. We only need to accept it from God and allow it to prosper in each of us by letting it live through us. This treasure IS eternal. (Selah - think on this!)
Therefore, love actually displays the character and nature of Christ in you to be a true child of God – a true Christian!
