WHY IS SO MUCH CORRUPTION IN OUR GOVERNMENT?
By W. G. Guy
The answer is that it is due to the lack of prayer for those in positions of authority.
1Timothy 2:1-2a – I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority;
The apostle Paul wrote to Timothy instructing that we are to pray for those in authority and governmental leadership? The answer as to why is clearly revealed as Paul continued:
1Timothy 2:2b-4 – that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
Obviously we have godless, sinful, corrupt people in leadership positions in our federal and state governments. These sinners live immoral lives as well as work and pass laws that are contrary to God’s Word and righteousness.
Proverbs 29:2 – When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice:
but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
These wicked and corrupt people do their evil deeds at the bidding of Satan whom they have unknowingly yielded themselves to obey and employ lies and deceit against the truth and morality. They are doing the exact opposite of what they are supposed to
in their positions of authority.
Romans 13:3-4 – For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: for he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
Scripture tells us that there are two kinds of people who can bear rule and authority as listed in Proverbs 29:2 above: there are the righteous rulers, and there are the wicked that rule. When the righteous rule, there is peace and justice; and those that are evil fear them, as stated in Romans 13:4 above: but when the wicked rule there is massive deception (lies), evil, violence and corruption.
Scripture records that we are not required to obey evil rulers or wicked authority who rule against God and Christ and His Word: (as many claim is stated in Romans 13:1-2 which only applies to those who govern by the way God ordained). The Book of Acts records this when Peter and John were brought before the authorities.
Acts 4:18-21 – And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard. So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.
When the ungodly rule, truth is thrown out in the street and trampled upon, and those who stand for truth are persecuted as is currently happening in America.
Isaiah 59:14-15 – And judgment is turned away backward (truth reversed), and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street (tossed out like trash), and equity (justice) cannot enter. Yea, truth falleth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey.
How is it that these wicked and corrupt people are able to obtain positions of authority in our Constitutional Republic? Obviously it is due to the failure of the church, the Body of Christ, not interceding and praying as we are instructed for those who are to be in authority. This lack of prayer and intercession for this nation, and its leadership, has allowed the enemy to place his people, (children of the devil), into positions of leadership. Satan’s purpose is to subvert the church and oppose the kingdom of God.
John 10:10a – The thief (Satan) cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:
Those wicked in authority are just the opposite of what the apostle Paul stated, “that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”
What is really appalling is that many “Christians” actually vote for these sinners to be in leadership positions. This includes pastors of churches who should actually be leading their churches in prayer as well as identifying those who are righteous compared to those who are the wicked children of the devil.
At this point in America we need to earnestly be praying for those in leadership to have a true revelation of Jesus Christ and His Word so that they would come under conviction for their sins and repent and turn to God. Then, having a personal experience with the Lord Jesus Christ, their lives will change and so will their decision making in the way they provide leadership in our government.
2 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Yes we need to be praying for those in authority, especially for the wicked, evil sinners, for their salvation and deliverance from the devil’s influence, and that they repent and turn to God and allow Him to direct their works and thoughts in truth and righteousness. They need right thinking!
Proverbs 16:3 – Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.
Then we can have a government that will be honest and just so that: When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice.
