WALING IN OVERCOMING VICTORY
By W. G. Guy
In this life we find struggles of all sorts, but God’s love has provided for us to overcome all such obstacles, and allow us to walk in victory through our Lord Jesus Christ and His Word. What does it take to walk in victory? Faith in the Word of God!
1 John 5:4-5 – For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
Faith is the means to overcome: this is faith in God’s love; faith in the promises of His Word: faith in what Jesus Christ did for us. Yes we face struggles in this life. You can’t be an overcomer unless you have had something to overcome!
John 16:33 – These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
There is much in this world that we as believers in Jesus Christ and children of God have to overcome. There are three things that we find that cause us trials and conflicts: the world; the flesh, (our selfish carnal nature); and our adversary the devil. However, God has given us what we need to have victory over each of these areas of conflict.
1 John 2:13-14 – I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father. I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
1 John 4:4 – Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he (Satan) that is in the world, (referred to as the god of this world – 2 Corinthians 4:4).
As stated in the first scripture listed, you can see that God has already provided you victory over the devil as you apply God’s Word. As declared, faith and obedience to His Word is the victory that overcomes the world, the flesh and the devil. Faith is trust, confidence and assurance that must be evident in our lives.
Hebrews 11:1 – Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Faith is a substance that is not seen, but an assurance that what you have faith in will be accomplished or experienced. Faith allows you to move into the arena where unbelievers fear to tread. The question then remains, how is faith developed?
Romans 10:17 – So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
God made provision for every circumstance and situation that you could possibly face living in this world: it is all recorded in the Bible – His Holy Word. We all need to know His Word, which contain His promised provision for us; then trust that His Word is true.
God made available all His resources to those who believe and trust in Him.
Romans 8:31-32 – What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Do you need provision?
Philippians 4:19 – But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Do you need protection?
Psalms 91:1-2 & 4 – He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. ….He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Do you need direction?
Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Isaiah 53:5 – But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
1 Peter 2:24 – But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
James 5:13-15 – Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: and the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
Do you need to be fee from worry and anxiety?

Do you need help in any area?
Psalm 119:11 – Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
1 Peter 5:7 – casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Hopefully you can now see that it is faith in God, and in His Word, that gives us the victory over this evil and cruel world: all made available through Jesus Christ, God’s gift of Grace freely given to us who accept His offer.
Psalms 84:11 – For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.
We, as children of God, are called to walk in His overcoming victory with all that He has provided! Do you walk and live in His victory? All it takes is faith in Him and His Word!
