TWO KINDS OF WISDOM
by W. G. Guy
It is with great alarm that I watch the current trend of liberal politicians who are proposing bills and passing legislation that defies sound moral and economic logic. They fail to see, or even conceive of, the disastrous results such actions will bring upon our nation; that is, unless they have a specific agenda of national suicide and destruction. (There is the suspected agenda of bringing this nation down the level of a third-world country so that America can be merged with other such countries in a socialistic environment of a one-world government, with a one-world religion. I don’t want to get into that discussion with this article even though that does appear where we are being directed by our recent administration.)
This article deals with how our liberal political leaders, and other such people of influence in national policy, are able to justify their positions and actions. It is amazing how these liberals can rationalize and justify their proposals. They can make good intellectual arguments and bring up all sorts of supporting reasons. They aren’t dumb, on the contrary, they are quite clever. Note also that the devil isn’t dumb, but he, likewise is quite clever, subtle and beguiling. Such politicians seem to have wisdom to justify their proposals. How can this be? The answer to this is found in the Bible, it is the application of wisdom, and the acquisition of knowledge.
First we need to recognize that there are two kinds of knowledge: the knowledge of GOOD and the knowledge of EVIL. Guess where this came from? In Genesis 3 we read that there were two trees in the Garden in Eden. One was the Tree of Life and the other, the forbidden one, was the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. We know that man took of the wrong tree and has since known EVIL. Those who don’t know God, through Christ Jesus, prefer to live in and with the knowledge of evil.
There are also two kinds of wisdom; so let’s define “wisdom”: it is the quality of being wise; exercising good judgment; the application of knowledge and learning to make sound decisions. This is can also be extrapolated further to describe a person exercising a characteristic of wisdom as being cunning, subtle or crafty in order to achieve his goals, sound or not; depending on which form of knowledge he has.
Interestingly enough this also describes how Satan, that serpent, the enemy of God operates.
Genesis 3:1 – Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Note: the devil was enticing Eve the take from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Knowledge can be used for good, but the enemy likes to use knowledge for evil. Likewise those who know not God do the same thing since they are of their father the devil.
John 8:44 – Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Ezekiel 28:17 – Thine (Satan’s) heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness:
Those who prefer to live with the knowledge of evil are also used by Satan who loves to equip those under his influence with his kind of wisdom in order to manipulate for evil and promote his agenda in the world. He is the source of an evil wisdom and uses it as the adversary of Christians to harass them in an effort destroy their positive influence in the world.
1 Peter 5:8-9 – Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
John 10:10 – The thief (devil) cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
The Bible specifically identifies two sources of wisdom:
James 3:13-17 – Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him
show out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have bitter envying and strife (a selfish personal agenda) in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against (or reject) the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish (and full of hypocracy). For where envying and strife is (a selfish personal agenda), there is confusion and every evil (demonic or satanic) work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
Thus it is supremely important to identify the source of the wisdom behind our politician’s endeavors. The end result will reveal the source, but by then the carnal damage is already done. So we see that wisdom is used to exercise influence through clever use of information or knowledge for the purpose of achieving desired results. Wisdom is often used to manipulate others and convince them to make certain choices or take desired actions. Our educators and politicians are quite adept at doing this. The concern we should all have is WHERE DOES THEIR WISDOM COME FROM?
It turns out that those educators and politicians who know not God are employing wisdom, but from the wrong source. Those who know and walk with God, through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, His Son, have His heavenly wisdom available to them, (even though they may not employ it at times).
James 1:5-7 – If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
God’s kind of wisdom, that which is from above, is much superior to worldly wisdom exercised by so many in academic and government positions. The main reason why worldly wisdom is so inferior is that it rejects truth and facts and prefers to manipulate words, ideas and selected data to achieve their soulish (sensual/carnal) personal and devilish agenda.
God’s wisdom is given to people of faith, people who have a dependence and confidence in God as their source for provision, protection and guidance. This is how our Founding Fathers were able to frame the Constitution of the United States of America. They ceased to depend on man’s wisdom after failure to accomplish what they assembled to do during the Constitutional Convention and finally turned to God and asked in prayer for His wisdom and guidance in preparing our outstanding national form of government. God gave them that wisdom liberally, and upbraideth not as they asked in faith, believing and trusting in Him.
We need godly leadership in congress, Federal courts and in the White House; we need leadership that will not rely on wisdom that is earthly, sensual, devilish (and full of hypocrisy). Thus another call is issued for prayer for this nation and our leadership that they be converted and become God honoring, God fearing, dependent on and faithful to Him and to return our nation to morality and righteousness.
Proverbs 14:33-34 – Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known. Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
1 Timothy 2:1-5 – I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Our national problems would be solved if we, as a nation, would seek first the Kingdom (dominion of God) over our land. If we turn back to God and draw near to Him, then He would draw close to us and be our provision, protection and guidance.
Mathhew 6:33 – But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
James 4:8 - Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.
