WHY PEOPLE REJECT TRUTH

Too many people are not responsive to the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Nor do they accept the precepts and morals as listed in the Holy Bible. Why are they so willingly ignorant of eternal truth? The Bible has the answers; however because they are in the Bible these same people will not accept divinely inspired truth.
There are two main reasons for Biblical truth to be rejected. The first reason is that unregenerate mankind is under the influence of the devil due to the carnal sin nature.
Romans 6:15-16 – Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Being under the devils/Satan’s influence, which they also fail to recognize, means that they are morally blinded to truth and seek rather to justify their carnal appetites which allows them to continue in living a godless and sinful life.
2 Corinthians 4:3-4 – But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: in whom the god of this world (Satan) hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
The second reason is that in rejecting truth, they often oppose any revelation of the gospel truth that could change their life entirely. Having no desire or love for the truth, they have chosen rather to maintain their living in deceit which leads to their utter destruction due to sin.
2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 – even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: that they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Those who love and prefer their carnal, fleshly self-indulgent life-styles are then given over to the deception of the enemy (devil/Satan) refusing to acknowledge God’s love for mankind and the sacrifice that Jesus did to redeem them from their fallen sinful state. The truth of God’s love and the deceitful ways of the flesh being imposed by Satan are at extreme odds with one another.
Those that prefer to live in sin are referred to as “children of the devil/Satan.
1 John 3:8-10 – He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
The un-redeemed sinners are also referred to as enemies of God since they are living in obedience to the devil (Satan) and are in opposition to God.
Philippians 3:18-19 – For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are
the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.
We all fit this category of enemy of God until we received the grace of God’s love gift of Jesus Christ a savior.
Colossians 1:21-23 – And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: if ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
We see this sinful enemy behavior manifested today by those whose political ideology is leftist/liberal because they support things that are abhorrent to God and the Bible while opposing what is godly, moral and right. The sad part of this is that rejection of the gospel truth leads to eternal judgment and unnecessary destruction. They reject the fact that Jesus already paid the penalty for sin and gives all of us the opportunity to walk in right relationship and fellowship with God.
Romans 5:6-10 – For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
To reject the truth is to accept and live the lie that leads to destruction. The lie is of and from the devil/Satan, the father of liars; this is another reason why sinners/unbelievers are referred to as children of the devil/Satan.
John 8:44 – Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Obviously the devil hates truth as it exposes who he is and what he does. Therefore he will do all that he can to destroy truth, to obscure truth, or to pervert truth. He does this to try to keep people from knowing the truth that can set them free of destructive and sinful ways.
So just what is truth? According to Webster’s Dictionary: truth is 1 Being true, sincerity, honesty, conformity with fact, reality, actual existence, correctness, accuracy; 2 That which is true; 3 An established fact. We find that real and absolute truth comes from what God spoke through His son Jesus Christ as recorded in the Bible. Since many people do not read the Bible or do not personally know Jesus Christ they have no knowledge of real truth.
John 14:6 – Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Also the Word of God, as recorded in the Bible is truth.
John 17:17 – Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, is the truth; thus to know Him and His Word is to know truth, and this truth brings life abundantly and eternally.
John 8:31 – Then said Jesus to those Jews (and all) which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 10:10 – Jesus also said: The thief (Satan) cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
To choose to accept the truth is to choose life – abundantly and eternally through Jesus Christ.
