THE ULTIMATE LOSS
By W. G. Guy
There is an elite group of people in the world that seek to be in control of things, and they put forth effort to be the primary influence of the world’s affairs. They are followers and worshippers of Satan; many even call themselves Luciferians. They believe that by worshipping and serving Satan that he will give them the power and control that they desire. They base their belief on what is recorded in the Bible.
Luke 4:5-6 – And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
Here we see that the devil bragged to Jesus that he was in control of the kingdoms and domains of the world (of mankind); and that he would give that dominion to those whoever would worship and serve him. Unfortunately, these poor deluded souls, fail to recognize what Jesus said and provided for mankind.
Matthew 16:26 – For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
The members of this exclusive ruling elite club, who think they are in control, have sacrificed their souls for all that will soon pass away into nothingness.
1 John 2:17 – And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
They have lusted for wealth, power and control at the cost of their own eternal soul which will be lost for all eternity. James also gives a prophetic word concerning these kind of people.
James 5:1-3 – Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth eaten. Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.
The wealth and alleged blessing that these people have amassed will end up being a curse to them that destroys their soul. The abuses that they have inflicted on the world’s population are known to God, and these so-called elite, also referred to as the “wicked” will receive their just reward as is recorded in numerous places in the Book of Psalms. They will experience the ultimate loss if they fail to repent and turn to God through the Lord Jesus Christ.
Jesus also addressed the idea of putting too much attention on seeking the material things of this world.
Luke 12:15-20 – And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: and he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
Unfortunately, too many people idolize those in the elite class and desire to have what they have, and to achieve like positions of power and influence. This is what is described as “all that is in the world”, which Satan has influence over”; it is known in the Bible as “lust”; the three areas of fleshly vulnerability.
1 John 2:15-16 – Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
These lusts can be summarized as selfishness; working to gain for self- satisfaction. Jesus directs us in how to overcome these fleshly desires and to walk with Him.
Matthew 16:24-25 – Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it
Jesus also tells us how we can have all that we need:
Matthew 6:33 – But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Do not be like those who seek power, wealth and control who will suffer the ultimate loss, they have their temporary reward; let your reward be eternal in Jesus Christ by seeking His will and walking in obedience to Him!
