WHAT A PRIVILEGE
By W. G. Guy
The average Christian does not seem to recognize the tremendous blessing and privilege it is to be a child of Almighty God. This privilege puts believers in a special class of people; as a result our praise to Him should be great and on-going, in spite of situations and circumstances that we experience in this life.
John 1:12 – But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
This means that God, the creator of the heavens and the earth, through Jesus Christ is our Heavenly Father. In fact, Jesus introduces God, His Father, as being our Heavenly Father to whom we address in prayer.
Matthew 6:9 – After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
We need to recognize what it really means to be a child of God. First of all, God IS LOVE, and His love is poured out upon His children.
1 John 4:8 – He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
God’s love is so great that even when we were corrupt sinners, as enemies of God and His righteousness, He still loved all of mankind.
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
How much more so is God’s love to them who have been adopted into His family through Jesus Christ: being made a child of God is so much more than just being saved.
Romans 8:31-32 – What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
God’s loving care for each of His children is far greater than any of us can humanly imagine, yet we are told to spiritually acknowledge so that we can embrace the fullness of God.
Ephesians 3:16-20 – that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
God the Father, and Jesus Christ, made all provision for us that we could ever need.
Matthew 7:9-11 – Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
However it is all obtained by faith and trusting Him to do as He promised in His Word.
Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all
thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Your human understanding has a difficult time accepting what is offered to us by our faith and trust in Him. The Father’s loving care is so great that He does not want us to worry or be anxious about anything that we experience.
Philippians 4:6-7 – Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
This even includes our most basic needs.
Matthew 6:31-32 –Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
Does not a father care for his children? How much more does our Heavenly Father care about you in your situation? He cares more than any earthly father could.
1 Peter 5:7 – casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Please know that God’s love thrives even in our most dire circumstances, and it never diminishes.
Romans 8:34-39 – Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed (afflicted) all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
God’s love for you is the greatest power in all the universe; so embrace His love for you and allow it to flow through you to others. This fulfills the Word and Will of God.
1 John 3:1-3 – Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
So let’s live like the blessed and privileged sons of God!
1 John 4:9-11 – In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
So recognize that we, as believers, are very privileged to be God’s loved children that He cares for very much and will guide us through all of the trials of this life, and causes us to come out on top - VICTORIOUS.
